Know what you are moving

Inventory accounts, mailboxes, shared files and applications that depend on email. Confirm access to domains and DNS. Decide what must move and what should be retained separately.

Plan access first

Agree on identity, administration, recovery and sharing responsibilities. Map licenses to actual user needs and establish the security configuration before migration waves begin.

Rehearse with representative users

Include different roles, devices and shared-access arrangements in the pilot. Check mail, calendars, permissions and application notifications. Tell users what will change and where to get help.

Support the transition

Prepare a cutover plan, validation checklist and escalation route. Monitor sign-in and collaboration issues after the move. Remove temporary access and retire the old environment only when the agreed requirements have been satisfied.
